A closer look at One Palm’s latest luxurious showroom
Dubai-based developer Omniyat has revealed its latest showroom at its luxury One Palm development on The Palm Jumeirah. The new showroom is styled by London-based design studio Elicyon, one of Omniyat’s two interior partners on the One Palm project, and serviced by the Dorchester Collection.
“The chairman of Omniyat, Mahdi had a vision for One Palm’s ‘villas in the sky’ to bring the aesthetic and caliber of London projects such as One Hyde Park to Dubai, says Charu Gandhi, the Founder of Elicyon. “We embarked on a design journey with Omniyat to celebrate the beautiful architecture and vistas of the development, bringing our tailored and timeless elegance to a base build fit out for the building, brought further to life in the show apartment.”
The 4,000 square foot four-bedroom unit boasts a large open plan, lateral living space with a cool color palette and magnificent views of Dubai Marina, The Ain Dubai and the Arabian Gulf.
Revealing the inspiration behind the design choices, Charu explains that the architectural concept for the building, which creates a seamless connection with the outdoor garden every unit has, has permeated their approach to the flow of space.
“The engagement with the water and the vistas created by the sight lines, led us to create a sequence of stopping points through the placement of eye-catching art. The beautiful full height doors celebrate the flow of space, while every room has a focal point to draw the eye, such as the elegant and artisanal headboards.”
Famed for its involvement in the renown One Hyde Park building in Knightsbridge, London, Elicyon regularly uses opulent materials combined with extraordinary bespoke craftsmanship and detailing. “We have brought some wonderful European craftsmanship to the apartment, from straw marquetry to hand made glass while the furniture is from Italy, United Kingdom, Netherlands, America and France, representing a truly international aesthetic that speaks directly to the international Uber luxe client base we expect at One Palm.” She continues “The furniture is a playful mix of very contemporary pieces with some classical and mid-century references added in such as the Eames chairs. Marrying the London aesthetic with the heritage of Middle Eastern architecture is expressed in an abstracted arabesque pattern in the mirror work and screens, these are placed across the lateral living space and to create a grown-up snug in the private quarters.”
While working on this luxurious showroom, the seasoned architect wanted to pay homage to the sea, to beachside living in a contemporary setting, and seamlessly blend that with elegant materials and textures. “At one of our early design workshops, we brought our materials to Dubai, to see them in the light of the location. The base palette is a wonderful mix of neutrals such as cool ivory, silver, cream and a desaturated silvery teal. The powder room has a beautiful book matched marble, as a piece of furniture for the floating white marble vanity and a floating elegant mirror. These colors are reflected in the hand-painted silk wallpaper to create a glamorous, jewel-like room. This approach is similarly translated across the base build, high gloss veneer doors with Art Deco-inspired joinery, the pale timber floor across the property and the other bathrooms with a very crisp, high contrast material palette of white stone and back with white veining.”
One Palm is home to Dubai’s most expensive apartment, a 29,000 sq ft triplex penthouse that sold last year for AED 102 million. This is a testament to Omniyat’s unique concepts. “Omniyat’s commitment to achieving an international standard product is manifested in the quality of the finishes, this really sets One Palm apart. As an example, all the apartments are very generous both in their indoor space and ceiling height, but also in their external private gardens. Every detail has been considered, from the functionality of the bathrooms, to the use of the very best materials within them and similarly with the floor finishes and other specification.”
Elicyon is developing a passion for Dubai and the region and is looking to spend more time in the Middle East curating bold and personalized homes.
“We are very proud to be designing the Penthouse at One Palm, which has made headlines for its record-breaking sale price. This is a truly spectacular property, 29000 square foot of space high in the Dubai skyline and we are excited to bring the client’s vision to life. We are also engaged in discussions on some further wonderful projects in the UAE, which we hope to reveal shortly. Needless to say, this is the very fortuitous beginning of Elicyon’s work in the UAE, and we remain committed to building a long-term legacy in Dubai,” Charu concluded.
