Following on previous successful participation at GITEX Technology week, Mimecast, a leading email and data security company, joined the exhibition this year with a standalone stand.

While showcasing its three core products that revolve around email security, archiving and continuity, the company launched Mimecast Cloud Archive, the leading multipurpose archive solution built for the cloud.

“Mimecast has been in the archiving industry for a long time. But, we are currently positioning our archive solution as a cloud archive,” says Brian Pinnock, Cyber Resilience Expert, Mimecast. “Although the solution is dubbed Mimecast Cloud Archive, it is positioned as a multipurpose archive that meets clients’ needs from a fast response to a search to the ability to handle compliance-type issues.”

Mimecast Cloud Archive delivers an all-in-one cloud service that integrates: a secure data repository, built-in data recovery, storage management, e-discovery and compliance capabilities. It also enables customers to access their email archive anywhere, anytime, and on any device in record speed.

According to new global data from Mimecast and Vanson Bourne, eighty-eight percent of organizations struggle with existing archive solutions, and nearly 60 percent cite administrative complexity as a top challenge, while 48 percent experience a lack of scalability. Another 56 percent are plagued by slow search performance.

Brian affirms that the key challenges the cloud archive will be addressing are the search speed and unpredictable costs, which are particularly difficult on other archive solutions. “These are the major complaints we hear from new customers about the experiences they had with other solutions.”

The solution includes new capabilities that empower employees with fully integrated email management from anywhere and enhances security by ensuring full IT control over deployment, content access and revocation using their chosen Enterprise Mobility Management solution.

The Cyber Resilience Expert considers that when looking at security overall, it is not just a question of securing what one has. “One needs to have a cyber resilience mindset, and cyber resilience is all about providing the best possible protection in the first instance, but also acknowledging that no security is perfect.” He continues, “One should make provision for the fact that they may have downtime, in which case they need some form of continuity. Moreover, they need to have something that will get them back to their last known good state. And, Mimecast Cloud Archive is the right off-site and changeable solution for this matter.”
