Qatar’s food inspectors close Jones the Grocer

The popular West Bay branch of the restaurant Jones the Grocer has been shut down for three days for violating Qatar’s food safety laws, though it is unclear why.
Inspectors from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME/Baladiya) closed the eatery earlier this week, as part of an ongoing campaign involving spot-checks on food establishments during Ramadan. On Twitter, the MME said it had recently closed four restaurants and a food shop for between 10 and 15 days, for failure to comply with health standards.
The Jones closure appears to be separate from this. A notice on the restaurant’s doors said it will reopen on June 8.
